The rapid growth of urbanization and the significant increase in passenger travel have made the development of public transportation an increasingly essential priority. With a history spanning more than two centuries, **Light Rail Transit (LRT) and tramway systems** are among the established modes of urban transportation. Today, these systems operate in more than **400 cities worldwide**, providing an exceptional level of service with over **14.5 billion passenger trips annually**.In light of the current approach toward developing **LRT lines in Iran**, **Behro Comprehensive Consulting Engineers**, in line with its mission to advance the country’s technical and practical expertise in transportation, undertook the preparation of a comprehensive publication on Light Rail Transit. Following a review of various technical references, the document **“Track Design Handbook for Light Rail Transit”** was ultimately selected as the primary reference for this publication, as one of the most comprehensive resources available in the field.A distinguishing feature of this reference is its presentation of **track design requirements while taking into account the interfaces with other specialized disciplines**. To make the book as comprehensive and practical as possible, in addition to reputable European references, the accumulated experience and expertise of **Behro** have also been incorporated.
